play list 03/05/2009 - American Indian Spirituality

today was the first of a series of shows i'm doing where i'm inviting different representatives from the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council on to talk about their religion. i'm also hoping to fit music in whenever possible. so today was a good start, i had kara hawkins and stumbling deer on to talk about american indian spirituality. they also are musicians so they performed two improvisational songs using flute, rattle, drum, and vocals. i thought it went really well, i hope all the shows go this well. not sure who i'm having on next week, if anyone, but in three weeks i will have some tibetan buddhist monks on to chant and the week after that the representative of the bahai faith.

started the show off playing the two oscar nominated songs from slumdog millionaire, and some more electronic jazz, including mr. scruff. i didn't play this particular mr. scruff song, but its one of my favorites and i have played it many times:
