Play list - 03/20/2011 - Signal To Noise

I got 5 hours of show time in over this past weekend.  18 hours after finishing Retro Redeye Express (a 3 hour show) I covered for Barry Lee on Signal to Noise on Sunday.  At the same time, a Neil Diamond tribute concert was going on at the Record Bar with a few bands each playing a few different Neil Diamond songs.  Pretty sure that show was related to the fact that Neil was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame last week.  So I decided to join in and start out with some Neil Diamond songs and covers.  Then I went over to the Record Bar and caught the last band at 10pm.  The last band was Free Band Radio, whose bassist is a friend of mine, Eric Gould, so that timing worked out well.

Play list - 03/19/2011 - Retro Redeye Express

Covered for Sunshine on Saturday night.  I thought it would be fun to try doing some live streaming video from the studio.  The sound was pretty bad, so nobody would want to just have the video running instead of streaming audio.  But if you used streaming audio or turned on the radio, the video stream wouldn't be in synch.  Oh well, it was a fun and interesting experiment.  Thanks to the few people who tried tuning into it.

I played some 80's new wave, followed by some ska and reggae, and then some 80's hip hop towards the end too.  Including this classic from hip-hop comedians Kid 'n Play (with a video cameo by their buddies Salt 'n Pepa)

Grandmaster Flash - The Message - Vinyl label mistake

I was flipping through my vinyl albums last night and was surprised to find that I have "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. I have a greatest hits CD of theirs (that I foolishly have hardly ever listened to) and a remix of The Message on another album that I listen to a lot and love. But totally forgot I had an LP. It's on the Sugar Hill label, SH 268 from 1982.

So I put it on and was looking at the cover while listening. I discovered that the track list on the album cover lists 4 tracks on side A, but the sticker on side A of the album only lists 3, it doesn't have "Scorpio". The track is on the record, so the sticker is wrong. Sometimes releases that have mistakes become valuable. I searched the Internet and couldn't find any reference to it though, so maybe its no big deal. Add to that the fact that the cover and record are in pretty poor condition, and its probably worth just the few dollars I probably paid for it. But if anyone knows differently, let me know!  Here's the pics.
